New Adventures in Photography
I have been photographing my children and their friends for years. My friends always told me I should pursue photography as a career to which I responded “I will quit my day job when I win the lottery.” Well I didn’t win the lottery; I was let go from my Finance job a few weeks ago. You would think I would be upset but I am having the time of my life. It was the kick in the behind I needed to finally do what I am most passionate about. I keep wondering why no one took me by the hand years ago and said “Shirley, you do not belong in the numbers world!”
I remember my Mom rounding the family members up for pictures at every family gathering and holiday event. She would ask us to say “cheese” but would then spend another 10 minutes rearranging everyone before finally taking the shot. The resulting pictures were stiff. There were no stories behind the people in it. It’s a shame because there is something magical about children. I am so blessed to be given this gift, to be given the opportunity to capture a moment in their little lives.
Here’s a sneak peak at my last session with Genevieve, who is my daughter Mckenna’s best friend. We had so much fun together. She told me that this was her and Mckenna’s rock. Too sweet.
