Bare Bottom

I have been wanting to capture my baby au naturale before it was too late. I probably should have done it when he wasn’t quite so mobile.

So why is it that baby fat is cute while adult fat is blah?

Catching Up

I’m on a roll today trying to catch up on my sneak previews. I had a great time with baby I. He was the perfect little model letting me pose him every which way. Poor little guy put up with me for hours.

Sunny Days

I am so behind on my post-processing. I’m so embarrassed. The sun made a special appearance for us after weeks of rain. I had so much fun with these three. Big brother and sister took no time getting warmed up. We had a blast!

I was hoping to get some sleepy shots of our little newborn but he didn’t want to miss a second of all that was going on.

Thanks for being so patient with me!

Not So Brand New

I had the opportunity to shoot the sweetest little boy today.  He is 5 weeks old and oh so mellow.  It’s funny to say that a 5 week old is not so brand new but he was so strong already.  I had all these grand ideas of folding him into little newborn poses but he was not having it!  He was probably thinking “what is this woman doing to me?”  I put him on his belly and he could already lift his head up.  But what a perfect little model. Not a single complaint from him even towards the end when he was ready for his nap.

Here’s a sneak peak for you.

New Adventures in Photography

•February 11, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I have been photographing my children and their friends for years. My friends always told me I should pursue photography as a career to which I responded “I will quit my day job when I win the lottery.”  Well I didn’t win the lottery; I was let go from my Finance job a few weeks ago.  You would think I would be upset but I am having the time of my life. It was the kick in the behind I needed to finally do what I am most passionate about.  I keep wondering why no one took me by the hand years ago and said “Shirley, you do not belong in the numbers world!”

I remember my Mom rounding the family members up for pictures at every family gathering and holiday event. She would ask us to say “cheese” but would then spend another 10 minutes rearranging everyone before finally taking the shot. The resulting pictures were stiff.  There were no stories behind the people in it. It’s a shame because there is something magical about children.  I am so blessed to be given this gift, to be given the opportunity to capture a moment in their little lives.

Here’s a sneak peak at my last session with Genevieve, who is my daughter Mckenna’s best friend.  We had so much fun together.  She told me that this was her and Mckenna’s rock.  Too sweet.
